What we do
KIP is working on four core activities to help immigrants succeed in Kingston:
1) Community resource for immigration and integration
We are the local source for data and information on immigration and integration, including research, best practices, support and/or training for Kingston and area.
2) Community needs assessment and asset mapping
We are nimble and responsive to the community’s challenges and opportunities regarding immigration and integration. We are using a community development approach, incorporating community needs assessment with multiple components, including a newcomer experience survey, input from service providers, ethno-cultural communities and experts in the field.
3) Foster community success and advocate for change
Principles of equity and diversity are important to becoming a more inclusive community. We will encourage partner organizations to take ownership of specific themes from the KIP strategy to support the attraction and retention of newcomers into the community.
4) Council Secretariat
Our staff forms the backbone for the collaborative council planning and broader community system integration. We support the KIP council, connecting them with community partners and serve as a catalyst for new projects and initiatives.
