KIP Research

Statistics are useful for identifying broad trends, such as the number of people arriving from a certain country or average income in a community. However, these figures do not tell the full story on immigration to Kingston. In order to improve services and create a welcoming community, it is important to learn how newcomers perceive Kingston and what challenges they face in settlement.

Through ongoing research, KIP staff sought the answers to the following questions:

  • What impressions do new immigrants have of Kingston?
  • What are the needs of new immigrants to Kingston?
  • What challenges and barriers do immigrants to Kingston face?
