<p><strong><em>Tuesday – August 14th  6-8 pm           KIP Women’s Network (Calvin Park </em></strong><strong><em>Library) Topic: Importance of the Internet </em></strong></p>
<p>The first part of the session will focus on <strong>The importance of Internet </strong>when settling in a new community (finding resources, making connections, finding employment, promoting yourself and connecting with your family and friends around the world). The session will be hosted by Ruth Noordegraaf, Facilitator at the Kingston Immigration Partnership.</p>
<p>The second part of the session will focus on an informal discussion about the <strong>next season of the Women’s Network </strong>including a brainstorm about potential topics, the network’s focus, the member’s role and reaching out to new members.</p>
<p>Refreshments are available.</p>

<p><strong><em>Tuesday – July 10<sup>th</sup> 6-8 pm        KIP Women’s Network (Calvin Park Library)<br />
                                                               Topic: ‘Cultural Differences’</em></strong></p>
<p>The session will focus on <strong>Cultural ‘do’s and don’ts’ in both professional and social life </strong>(for instance: how does a potluck work? What is the dress code at work, what to bring to a dinner party, how do I interact with co-workers).</p>
<p>Our guest Barbara Dick, TESL president will guide us through some activities that undoubtedly will spark a fun and engaging group conversation.  </p>
<p>We will wrap up the session with a ‘<strong>Summer Mix and Mingle’</strong>,  refreshments are available, however, you are more than welcome to bring something to share with the group if you’d like.  </p>

<p><strong>Thursday – June 7th 6-8 pm 3rd Multicultural Roundtable dinner</strong></p>
<p>The Chinese Canadian Association will host the 3rd Kingston Multicultural Roundtable event. This (invitation only) event will be held Thursday. June7th, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Kingston Chinese Alliance Church.<br />
Approximately 10 ethno cultural groups are sending representatives to the dinner. The goal of this session is to continue building ties amongst the cultural communities of Kingston. Throughout this session we would like to focus on the promotion and digital presence of cultural communities in Kingston through websites, directories and social media. In addition, we are thrilled to launch our multilingual Kingston promotional videos during this event as well.<br />

<p><strong>Tuesday – June 12th 6.00-8.00 pm KIP Women’s Network (Calvin Park Library) </strong><strong>Topic: ‘Making Connections’</strong></p>
<p>During the first part of the meeting Rebecca Darling will speak about making connections in a new community. Rebecca works for the Entrepreneurship Centre as business advisor, was co-founder of the Networking group ‘Kingston Connections’ and before moving to Canada from the States had an impressive career in Marketing. In her presentation she will combine her personal story with useful advice in making connections in the Kingston community.<br />
The second part of the evening will be an activity for all participants. We are asked to give advice on the use and purpose of public space in Kingston (a place to make new connections!). Emily Munroe, Director at 8-80 Cities will facilitate this session, our input will be part of a City of Kingston project (see more info here: http://www.cityofkingston.ca/residents/recreation/parks/breakwater/)<br />
Between 7.30 and 8.00 we will have time to ‘mix and mingle’<br />

<p><strong><em>KIP Women’s Network (Calvin Park Library) &#8211; Topic: ‘Education’</em></strong></p>
<p>This month meeting will focus on the topic of <strong>Education</strong>. During the meeting we welcome two guests: <strong>Ms. Pettingill and Ms. Babcock</strong>, both from the Limestone Schoolboard. Ms. Pettingill holds the lead administrative role for ESL (English as a Second Language) for the Limestone School Board, Elementary panel and is also Vice Principal at First Avenue Public School and Marysville Public School. Ms. Babcock is the Principal of Rideau Public school, an elementary school in the Kingston downtown area with a prevalent representation of immigrant students.<br />
 At the meeting we will discuss topics like: ‘how does the educational system work?’,  ‘what services are available for children with English as a second language?’ and ‘ what does it involve to work in the educational sector?’.</p>
<p>During the second part of the meeting our Women’s Network member <strong>Judith Beatson</strong> will share information about her education, experience and profession.<strong><em></em></strong></p>

<p>The “KIP Business Network” is a new program sponsored by the Kingston Immigration Partnership (KIP) and Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO). May 22<sup>nd</sup> will be the launch of this program.</p>
<p>Guest Speakers of the evening:  Sipho Ibeakanma, Ahmad Khosrawan, and Samit Sharma.</p>
<p>These three immigrant-entrepreneurs will be sharing their personal experiences in building their businesses.</p>
