What is Happening at KIP in May:
KIP Women’s Network (Calvin Park Library) – Topic: ‘Education’
This month meeting will focus on the topic of Education. During the meeting we welcome two guests: Ms. Pettingill and Ms. Babcock, both from the Limestone Schoolboard. Ms. Pettingill holds the lead administrative role for ESL (English as a Second Language) for the Limestone School Board, Elementary panel and is also Vice Principal at First Avenue Public School and Marysville Public School. Ms. Babcock is the Principal of Rideau Public school, an elementary school in the Kingston downtown area with a prevalent representation of immigrant students.
At the meeting we will discuss topics like: ‘how does the educational system work?’, ‘what services are available for children with English as a second language?’ and ‘ what does it involve to work in the educational sector?’.
During the second part of the meeting our Women’s Network member Judith Beatson will share information about her education, experience and profession.

A day filled with activities at the Calvin Park Library:
- Tours and Orientation Sessions: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
- Scavenger Hunts for Adults and Children (with prizes!): 10:30 a.m .- 4:30 p.m.
- Multicultural Story Hour (Dutch and Mandarin): 2:00 p.m.
- Multilingual Book Sale: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The event is suitable for the whole family and free to attend, no registration is required.

Launch of KIP Business Network (Innovation Park, 945 Princess Street)
The “KIP Business Network” is a new program sponsored by the Kingston Immigration Partnership (KIP) and Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO). May 22nd will be the launch of this program.
Guest Speakers of the evening: Sipho Ibeakanma, Ahmad Khosrawan, and Samit Sharma.
These three immigrant-entrepreneurs will be sharing their personal experiences in building their businesses.
